Trapped Key Locks and Systems - mGard
mGard – modular, robust trapped key interlock systems for demanding applications.
The trapped key system is used to mechanically protect users from hazardous machines or processes. It is ideal for sites with multiple energy sources; electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic.
The wide range of mGard products allows their use in various applications
- Suitable for use with SIL 3 (EN/IEC 62061), Category 4, and PLe (EN/ISO 13849-1)
- The trapped key system ensures parts are unlocked and locked in a predetermined order to guarantee safety
- The system enforces the disconnection of all energy sources before accessing the hazardous area
- When energy sources are disconnected, the key can be used to unlock doors or other mechanisms
- One key can allow access to single or multiple doors
- Mechanical locks can also be installed in explosive areas as they are made of spark-free material
