Simplify IoT-Edge Application Development with Node-RED

Node-RED simplifies creating IoT-Edge applications. It is web-based and consists of a graphical user interface and pre-built functionalities and code blocks called nodes. Each node, whether standard or user-defined, handles one functionality: sending email, Modbus reading or writing, connecting to (my)mbCONNECT24, MQTT publishing/subscribing, OPC UA, etc.

To create your application, drag and drop nodes onto the design sheet, connect them according to the logical flow of operation, and configure them to suit your application context.

With Node-RED, you can collect, process, and transfer data to your chosen cloud application. Our Node-RED implementation provides access to all mbNET resources.

DOCKER & CONTAINERS: RUNNING EMBEDDED IIOT-EDGE APPLICATIONS

Docker creates virtual workspaces (containers) for user applications and manages their access to the operating system and system resources. Containers and their applications are isolated, and they can communicate only through Docker-managed mechanisms.

The Node-RED environment runs in such a container. With the Edge IIoT license, you gain access to a second container where Portainer.io runs: Docker's graphical interface, allowing you to configure and manage containers. You also gain access to additional containers to run your custom applications.

Docker ensures the deployment and distribution of these applications and allows only signed and trusted images to run in containers.
